Job Summary
Chemical Operator for 2nd & 3rd Shift at GFS Chemicals in Columbus, OH. Responsible for manufacturing products by loading reactors, running reactions, unloading reactors & dryers, coordinating with distillation and quality control, and packaging finished product. Must follow safety protocols and environmental regulations for chemical waste disposal, maintain clean and organized work areas, perform routine inspections, document production activities (batch records, log books, equipment performance), and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Operate automation control systems to start, transfer, and complete chemical processes, monitor flow rates, pH, temperature and volume, respond to alarms, and ensure accurate information exchange. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 3+ years of manufacturing experience, with preferred experience in chemical environments and with hazardous chemicals; forklift operation after training; strong problem solving and mathematical skills; and effective communication. The role is full-time on 2nd and 3rd shifts in Columbus, Ohio, with sponsorship not available.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of prior industrial/manufacturing experience preferred
- Previous work experience in a chemical manufacturing environment preferred
- Previous work experience with hazardous chemicals preferred
- Ability to drive a forklift after training
- Ability to navigate automation control system
- Good organizational and housekeeping practices
- Problem solving and analytical math skills including metrics & basic algebra
- Ability to write numbers and letters legibly
- Strong communication of information
- Safety-conscious
- Mechanical aptitude preferred
