Job Summary
Assist Senior Process Engineers on Oil Sands Projects by completing deliverables including process simulation, hydraulic calculations, and PFD/P&ID generation. Gather and filter operation data to support design while coordinating inputs across engineering disciplines, Technical Safety, and Operations. Review contractor designs and maintain documentation quality through discipline reviews and squad checks. Work in Calgary or Fort McMurray on a rotating shift schedule for an 8- or 12-month term starting January or May 2027. This role offers hands-on experience within Canadian Natural's mining operations, including opportunities to join the Intern Social Committee and access quality camp facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Chemical Engineering
- General knowledge of process plant operation and equipment design
- General knowledge with reading and generating material and energy balances, PFD and P&IDs
- General working knowledge with Hysys or UNISIM
- Strong knowledge of the basic design principles
- Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license or equivalent out of province license with a reasonably clean driver's abstract
- All candidates applying to Canadian Natural must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions
