Job Summary

Specify, procure, design, build, test, and commission chemical process equipment for a new manufacturing facility. Translate lab data into process requirements and develop first-principles solutions alongside technicians when existing gear does not meet cost, schedule, and performance targets. Refine and commission systems to bring operations online while identifying, communicating, and tracking engineering risks and mitigations. Contribute to the safe development and operation of equipment, ensuring projects execute on schedule, within budget, and to required quality standards. Report to the Chief Engineer as part of the Chemicals and Explosives Team in Penrose, CO, with a shift to Pueblo, CO.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or related discipline
  • 4+ years of experience in chemical engineering
  • Experience taking a process through design, testing, iteration, and scale-up
  • Experience executing a project on schedule, within budget, and to required quality standards
  • Working knowledge of mass and energy balances, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics
  • Working knowledge of common unit operations employed in chemical manufacturing
  • Ability to communicate effectively through written, verbal, and presentation channels while explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Travel up to 15%, including the possibility of overnights, particularly to Minden, Louisiana area
  • Ability to lift, move, or carry items or equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Exposure to heat, cold, and unconditioned manufacturing spaces
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses
  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Pass the pre-employment drug test and health screening
  • Pass State and Federal background checks
  • Applicants must be a U.S. Person: a US Citizen, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)
  • Applicants must be eligible to obtain any required export authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or the U.S. Department of Commerce

Desired Qualifications

  • 2 years of chemical engineering experience (with a bachelor's degree in engineering) or 6 years of chemical engineering experience (in lieu of a degree)
  • Experience with one or more of the following unit operation types: electrochemistry, evaporation, crystallization, dewatering, drying, and powder packaging
