Job Summary
Senior hospital Chef leading the hospital catering team to deliver high-quality meals for patients and caregivers, including cyclic menus, à la carte, bulk cooking, vegetarian options, special diets, and function catering. Responsible for safe food handling, compliance with Australian Standards and HDWA regulations, and adherence to the Hospital Food Safety Management Plan. Manages and trains the catering team, ensures timely and attractive meal presentation, accurate portioning, and supports waste minimisation and infection control. Demonstrates strong communication, leadership, and a patient-centered approach aligned with the organization’s mission and values.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (Chef trade qualification)
- Knowledge of HACCP standards
- Experience in reputable hospitality or catering environment
- Safe food handling and allergy/dietary knowledge
- Ability to lead and motivate others
- Experience with cook chill and cook fresh systems
- Compliance with Australian Standards and HDWA regulations
- Capable of maintaining food safety documentation
