Job Summary
Chef responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the kitchen in a remote camp; duties include supervising kitchen staff, training and mentoring, planning menus with attention to dietary restrictions (including allergies, vegan and vegetarian options), ensuring FOODSAFE and HACCP compliance, managing inventory (bi-weekly), and ensuring efficient use of labour and chemicals. The role requires extensive hospitality/food service experience, strong costing and menu planning knowledge, and the ability to lead, train, and communicate professionally with clients and staff in a remote camp environment. The position offers meals and accommodations, travel to site locations, private on-site housing amenities, and a 3 weeks on/3 weeks off rotation. Starting daily wage is CAD 335 with equal opportunity employment regardless of protected characteristics.
Required Qualifications
- Journeyperson or interprovincial Red Seal preferred
- Valid Safe Food certificate
- At least 10 years’ experience in hospitality/food service as a Chef in hotels/resorts/restaurants/remote lodge
- Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, GFS, Outlook)
- Extensive knowledge of menu costing, recipe cards implementation and wage control
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Criminal Background Check clearance
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as described
