Chef/Kitchen Supervisor

Job Summary
Lead daily kitchen operations and staff in a long-term care setting, aligning meal service with resident preferences and ensuring health and safety standards. Oversee menu development, food preparation, inventory, and cost controls while fostering a positive dining experience and a resident-centered approach. Responsibilities include supervising, training, scheduling, ensuring compliance with health standards, maintaining records, and supporting continuous improvement. Requires flexibility for evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts, physical ability to perform tasks, and a satisfactory background check. Required Qualifications
- Certificate in Culinary Arts (or equivalent)
- 1-2 years leadership experience in a healthcare/long-term care preferred
- Red Seal certification is an asset
- Ability to lead teams and build positive relationships
- Adaptable, organized, and committed to quality care
- Excellent communication and effective problem-solving skills
- Detail-orientated and self-motivated
- Must be flexible to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as required
- Overtime may be required outside normal hours of work to accomplish duties during periods of heavy work requirements
- Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position ( unloading heavy items/equipment/supplies, working from ladders, pushing/pulling large and heavy containers, etc.)
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Standing, lifting, and repetitive tasks required
- Exposure to heat, equipment, and cleaning chemicals
