Job Summary
Oversee food production, presentation, and quality standards by maintaining clean workspaces, ensuring proper food handling, and preparing mise en place for all shifts. Monitor and control food wastage, portion sizes, and costs while analyzing guest feedback to exceed expectations. Organize assigned sections to run efficiently, assist teammates, and champion positive team behavior. Communicate any kitchen or team issues directly to the Head Chef. Ensure all cooked items align with recipes and safety protocols. Maintain par levels of dry goods and support stocktakes as needed.
Required Qualifications
- formal Industry Trade Qualifications
- Commercial Cookery Qualification
- current Food Safety Supervisors Certificate
- work experience relevant to the role
- physical ability to meet the demands for this role including frequent carrying of plates etc.
- use of fine motor skills requiring hand dexterity to grip knives
- Frequent gripping of cleaning products and cloths used for wiping down and cleaning all kitchen areas
- Frequent pushing and pulling, walking on uneven surfaces, including tiles, carpet and kitchen flooring
- Regular lifting and relocating of delivered goods
- Regular bending, reaching and lifting of all kitchen and floor equipment, utensils and crockery
- Frequent exposure to areas with higher temperatures
- Frequently engaging in preparation tasks with utensils and equipment at a waist high bench
