Job Summary
Head Chef sought to lead a Michelin-caliber dining program in a Michelin-starred restaurants group. Core responsibilities include creating a communicative, professional relationship with General Managers, Regional Managers, Directors, Ownership, and the kitchen team; ensuring correct product receiving and adherence to receiving policies; collaborating with the General Manager on leadership, fiscal responsibilities, training, and employee retention; setting an example to continuously improve performance; engaging with guests throughout the dining experience; maintaining daily service operations; supporting team members and covering gaps as needed; reviewing monthly P&L and yearly budget objectives; holding a Qualifying Certificate in Food Protection; assuming 100% responsibility for service quality and overall financial success in partnership with upper management; attending meetings and driving ongoing improvements; performing inventory and purchasing tasks; organizing required paperwork; ensuring performance appraisals are completed on time; and travel may be required. The role requires leadership, guest-focused service, strong communication, operational oversight, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Required Qualifications
- Supervisory experience required
- Previous Head Chef (or comparable leadership role) experience in a restaurant environment
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a professional restaurant
- Certified in all safety, sanitation and food handling procedures
- Qualifying Certificate in Food Protection from the local Department of Health (jurisdiction over employing property)
- English language, professional communications, math, and computer skills
- Ability to work standing for long periods (minimum 12 hours/day) and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to lead a team with little to no guidance
- Ability to problem solve in live time
