Job Summary
Greet customers, learn their names, and provide prompt service while operating the cash register to process all payment types including cash, checks, and coupons. Unload product, stock shelves, rotate merchandise to ensure freshness, and face items for proper presentation. Count change, issue receipts, and handle cash refunds or credit memorandums for returns. Maintain strict adherence to store policies, verify register balances, and report improper cash levels. Communicate clearly on the intercom to answer customer questions and follow up with appropriate personnel. Stay aware of surroundings to support store safety and security while assisting with displays and special promotions.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 100 pounds or more, with or without mechanical assistance
- Ability to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or similar material-handling equipment (required operator certification must be completed prior to independent use)
- Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades to cut, trim, or grind product
- Ability to operate a cardboard baler or compactor
- Ability to unload, lift, stock, and rotate incoming truck freight and merchandise
- Ability to work in cooler or freezer environments for extended periods
- Ability to stay aware of your surroundings to support store safety and security
- Ability to maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines
