Checker

Checker role within Hy-Vee focusing on fast, friendly customer service at the grocery cashier station. Responsibilities include operating a cash register, processing payments and discounts, scanning items, packing, assisting customers in finding items, handling WIC/food stamp transactions, answering inquiries, stocking and merchandising, and maintaining store cleanliness and safety. Requires strong customer service, arithmetic accuracy for cash handling, adherence to local store policies, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Physical tasks include lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods; prior experience with POS systems and coupon processing is beneficial.
