Job Summary
Perform all types of chassis repairs including brakes, wheel end, and structural assemblies in a depot or shop setting. Troubleshoot and fix chassis defects, conduct welding and fabrication, and replace parts using standard tools while adhering to FMCSA standards and written estimates. Log work orders and document repairs via a mobile app. Drive a mobile truck to complete repairs on DCLI chassis at various locations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 2-years of experience in trailer/chassis mechanics, usage and customary repair methods
- FMCSA and brake certifications
- Knowledge in welding MIG and/or ARC welding, torch use
- Knowledge of AAR, IICL and DOT rules and criteria
- Ability to work independently, efficiently and without direct supervision
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Must be willing to work all shifts as required with the potential to work weekends depending on seasonal demand
- Capable of lifting 50 lbs
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office products and phone apps for work order processing
- Must have a valid drivers license and a good driving history
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
