Job Summary
The Chassis Mechanic is responsible for performing gate and estimate inspections, mechanical repairs, and all types of chassis repairs in a depot environment. Essential duties include daily safety reviews, safe handling of chassis using lift devices, conducting live chassis inspections, and writing repair estimates. The role necessitates good welding skills, knowledge of AAR, IICL, and DOT rules, and the ability to work within a process-oriented team. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, plus experience in chassis mechanics and operating relevant equipment. Certification in operating forklifts is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Experience in chassis mechanics
- Knowledge of safety rules and TRAC policies
- Ability to read and write legibly
- Ability to communicate with management
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced team environment
- Experience with FMCSA inspection criteria
Desired Qualifications
- Operational knowledge of lift devices and yard trucks
- Ability to operate forklift type equipment
- Experience with AAR, IICL and DOT rules
- Good welding skills
