Job Summary
The Charge Nurse - Stepdown leads the department operations, provides mentorship and guidance to bedside nurses, determines staffing needs, assigns patients appropriately, ensures timely, safe and high-quality care, coordinates the patient plan of care with the bedside nurse, sets professional conduct expectations, and serves as a resource for the unit while ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines. The role emphasizes leadership, clinical oversight, and collaboration to maintain Mercy’s mission and service standards. Sign-on bonus is available for full-time RNs with at least 1 year of experience; no contract is indicated.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN)
- Licensure: Current RN license in the hiring state or compact state required
- Certifications: BLS (AHA) required within 30 days of hire; ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, OCN, CPHON, PEARS, S.T.A.B.L.E., C-EFM or other unit-specific credentials as required
