Job Summary
Charge Nurse II in Intermediate Care at Houston Methodist West Hospital leads unit operations and provides expert nursing care. The role includes overseeing clinical nursing practice, coaching and mentoring staff, coordinating unit- and hospital-wide education, and serving as a clinical resource for staff and physicians. Responsibilities emphasize leadership at the bedside, participation in governance activities, improving patient care processes, and fostering interprofessional collaboration, with emphasis on compassionate communication, safe patient care, and strong assessment and prioritization skills. The position requires state RN licensure (TX), BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification, plus 24 months of clinical nursing experience with demonstrated leadership capabilities. The role operates in a day shift, in-person at the Houston Methodist West main hospital building and is non-exempt non-relocation with no stated remote work.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated in Licenses/Certifications/Registrations section (RN)
- RN - Texas State Licensure - Texas Board of Nursing_PSV Compact Licensure – must obtain permanent Texas license within 60 days (if establishing Texas residency)
- BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA)
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Instructor (AHA)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (AHA)
- Minimum 24 months of clinical nursing experience with demonstration of progressive leadership skills
