Job Summary
Coordinate unit staffing, assign and direct nursing staff, and monitor performance evaluations while ensuring quality patient care in the 22-bed Oncology unit. Assess daily patient needs, distribute assignments, and evaluate care effectiveness to address issues affecting outcomes. Respond to patient care complaints through established channels and provide input on hiring, training, and staff development. Manage 3-12 hour night shifts from 7pm to 7am with full-time commitment.
Required Qualifications
- Full-time Nights; 3 - 12 hour shifts, 7pm - 7am
- UAB St. Vincent's East
- Coordinate unit staffing and provide leadership while ensuring implementation of clinical objectives and quality patient care in assigned area
- Assign, direct, educate and monitor nursing and support staff during assigned shift
- Contribute to or perform performance evaluations of staff
- Assess daily patient care needs and develop and distribute patient care assignments
- Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify any issues that affect desired patient outcomes
- Responds to complaints about patient care and manage through established channels
- May provide input for hiring, training, directing, development and evaluating of staff
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted
- ACLS and PALS
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing
- professional licensure/certification
- 1 year of cumulative job specific experience
