Job Summary
Coordinate unit staffing and provide leadership while ensuring implementation of clinical objectives and quality patient care in the assigned area. Assign, direct, educate, and monitor nursing and support staff during shifts, contributing to or performing performance evaluations. Assess daily patient care needs to develop and distribute assignments, ensuring population-appropriate care is given. Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify issues affecting desired outcomes. Respond to complaints about patient care through established channels and provide input for hiring, training, and staff development. This role supports the 22-bed 5 East Oncology unit, which also manages medical-surgical patients and performs procedures like biopsies and EGDs.
Required Qualifications
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted certification for BLS
- ACLS and PALS certification (required in some units)
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing
- 1 year of cumulative job specific experience
