Job Summary
Coordinate shift activities and perform initial health screenings for newly detained individuals. Conduct daily clinical rounds, monitor vital signs, administer medications, and manage medical emergencies while ensuring adherence to correctional security protocols. Provide direct patient care, triage, develop care plans, and educate patients on preventative measures. Maintain accurate medical records and document treatment plans. This role requires a current Nevada RN license, BLS/CPR certification, and two years of full-time experience. Candidates must pass background checks and drug screenings, possess physical stamina for patient lifting, and work independently within a secure environment.
Required Qualifications
- Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the state of Nevada
- Must possess an active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA required)
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Two years of full time RN experience
- Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards
- Knowledge of infectious disease management
- Knowledge of applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently and in a team
- Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed
- Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods
- Must have the ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances
- Must have the ability to perform physically demanding tasks like CPR
- Must have the ability to maintain good balance and endurance throughout a shift
