Job Summary
Charge Nurse (RN) leading a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) on the night shift. Directs daily unit activities, assigns patient care, performs bed and resource coordination, rounds with physicians, and supports staff development and interdisciplinary teamwork to ensure high-quality, safe patient care. Demonstrates advanced clinical expertise within WellStar’s nursing practice models, promotes evidence-based practice, and maintains unit readiness and efficiency through leadership tasks such as scheduling, patient flow, and committee involvement.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing (ADN/ Diploma)
- RN license (Multi-state Compact preferred)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or instructor-provisional/instructor preferred
- Minimum 1 year nursing experience; 2 years preferred
- BSN preferred but not required (BSN preferred)
- Charge nurse/leadership experience or demonstrated clinical leadership
- Competence in nursing process, patient care delivery, and patient safety standards
- Ability to plan staffing, manage unit flow, and provide staff mentoring/precepting
