Job Summary
RN Clinical Charge Nurse directs and oversees the daily activities of the unit on an assigned shift to assure safe delivery of care. The Charge Nurse often takes a modified patient-care assignment and serves as a resource to other areas, collaborating with Nurse Managers and leaders within the WellStar governance and nursing practice models. The role includes staff scheduling, unit patient flow, clinical expertise guidance, physician rounding, committee involvement, survey readiness, and other tasks to maintain smooth departmental function. It requires building rapport with nurses and physicians, promoting evidence-based practice, and upholding standards of care and ethics. This position emphasizes accountability, teamwork, delegation, communication, respect, and development of team members within a high-quality patient-centered environment.
Required Qualifications
- Current/active license as a registered nurse in the State of Georgia.
- Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing as an Associate Degree/Diploma Nurse.
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing preferred.
- Current/active BLS card from the American Heart Association on the first day of employment in position.
- National certification in area of specialty preferred. (Dependent on area of Service may require additional certification such as ACLS, PALS).
- One year of nursing experience required, two years preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Works well with others in a collaborative, team-focused, patient centered way.
