Job Summary
Charge Nurse (RN) – Acute Care at Wellstar working the Night shift (7pm-7am) directing and overseeing daily unit activities to ensure safe, high-quality patient care. Leads the nursing team, delegates patient-care assignments, participates in staff scheduling, and collaborates with physicians and other disciplines to maintain efficient unit operations. Requires active GA RN license, BLS, and a BSN preferred with prior nursing leadership or charge experience in an acute care setting; ACLS/PALS as applicable. Strong communication, teamwork, and clinical leadership skills; adherence to professional nursing standards and ethics; support for evidence-based practice and hospital governance models; ability to manage patient flow and contribute to survey readiness.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing as an Associate Degree/Diploma Nurse
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing preferred
- Current/active license as a registered nurse in the State of Georgia
- Must have a current BLS card from the American Heart Association on the first day of employment in position
- National certification in area of specialty preferred (dependent on area of Service may require ACLS, PALS)
- One year of nursing experience required, two years preferred
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Strong interpersonal, critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Works well with others in a collaborative, patient centered way
- Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
- Analytical skills to solve technical, clinical and managerial challenges
- Sufficient clinical and leadership experience to lead others
