Job Summary
The RN Clinical Charge Nurse leads a nursing unit during night shift, directing daily activities and ensuring safe delivery of care in a hospital setting. Responsibilities include caregiver role with potential modified patient-care assignments, leadership tasks such as staff schedules, unit patient flow, physician rounding, survey readiness, and maintaining high-quality, patient-centered care. The Charge Nurse collaborates with nurse managers, physicians, and an interdisciplinary team within WellStar’s nursing practice framework and governance model, mentors and develops team members, upholds professional standards, and fosters a culture of evidence-based practice and continuous improvement. Requires active Georgia RN licensure, current BLS, and clinically competent leadership abilities. Preference for BSN and specialty certifications; prior relief-charge experience and strong communication skills are valued. Location noted is Woodstock, GA.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing as an Associate Degree/Diploma Nurse
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing preferred
- Current/active license as a registered nurse in the State of Georgia
- Must have a current BLS card from the American Heart Association on the first day of employment in position
- National certification in area of specialty preferred
- One year of nursing experience required, two years preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills, critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Optimize the use of technology to support clinical care and holds basic computer skills
- Works well with others in a collaborative, team-focused, patient centered way
- Communicates effectively both orally and in written form with all levels of internal and external resources
- Analytical skills necessary to solve technical, clinical and managerial challenges
- Sufficient clinical and leadership experience to ensure competence and credibility to lead others
