Job Summary

Provide comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation while coordinating patient care activities and serving as a clinical leader for nursing staff. Prioritize care, make sound clinical decisions, and respond to changing patient conditions by implementing provider orders, administering treatments, and ensuring timely documentation. Maintain the highest standards of patient safety, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance while educating patients and families regarding health conditions and discharge planning. Foster a collaborative team environment by supporting, mentoring, and assisting team members to ensure high-quality patient care during night shifts. Maintain regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Montana RN license or a multi-state compact license with authorization to practice in Montana
  • RQI Provider (BLS) certification within seven (7) days of hire/transfer or prior to providing independent patient care
  • Strong knowledge of professional nursing practice, patient assessment, medical terminology, and evidence-based patient care
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, delegate, and lead in a fast-paced, high-acuity healthcare environment
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other applicable healthcare regulations
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in both the ICU and ED
  • ACLS and PALS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • NRP must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • TNCC or ATLS audit must be obtained within 1 year of hire/transfer
  • STABLE must be obtained within 1 year of hire/transfer
  • Introduction to Fetal Heart Monitoring or equivalent must be obtained within one (1) year of hire/transfer
  • TPATC must be obtained within two (2) years of hire/transfer
  • ACLS and NIHSS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • NIHSS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • ACLS and PALS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • ACLS and PALS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • ACLS and PALS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • ACLS and PALS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications

  • BSN degree
  • 2+ years of nursing experience in an acute care, clinic, physician office, or hospital setting
  • Previous charge nurse, leadership, or team coordination experience
  • Experience working in the assigned specialty or clinical area
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor staff, manage workflow, and promote positive team engagement
  • Possess knowledge of professional nursing theory, medical terminology, and principles of professional nursing practice to administer and evaluate patient care
  • Understanding the confidentiality laws that govern the provider-patient relationship, including but not limited to, HIPAA guidelines
  • Knowledge of equipment, supplies, and instruments used in a medical office, simple routine clinical laboratory methods, universal blood and body fluid precautions
  • Must have knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations, established protocol for storing poisons, narcotics, acids, caustics, and flammable items; restrictions imposed by various manage care carriers, various forms inherent to profession

  • Ability to act with integrity, kindness, and exhibit empathy
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently
  • Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy
  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed
  • Obstetrics (OB) ACLS and NRP must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • STABLE and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) must be obtained within 1 year of hire/transfer
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) NRP must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • STABLE must be obtained within 1 year of hire/transfer
  • Pediatrics (PEDS) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) PALS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • APHON must be obtained within 1 year of hire/transfer
  • Emergency Department ACLS and PALS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • TNCC and ENPC must be obtained within 1 year of hire/transfer
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ACLS and NIHSS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) NIHSS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • Endoscopy ACLS and PALS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) ACLS and PALS must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer
