Job Summary
Provide ongoing nursing leadership on an inpatient psychiatric unit: prioritize and organize daily patient care, assign and assist in developing treatment plans with clinical staff, supervise support staff, administer medications and treatments per policies, document nursing notes and transfer forms from admission to discharge, develop care plans, educate patients and families on medications and treatment goals, respond to emergencies, ensure safety and infection control standards, and orient/train staff while maintaining compliance with facility policies; position may involve supervisory responsibilities based on agency needs. Skills include clinical nursing care, patient advocacy, medication administration, documentation, EMR proficiency, teamwork, and effective communication.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited college
- License to practice nursing in the State of Indiana as a Registered Nurse
- CPR certification
- Behavioral intervention training
- Proficiency in computer skills and ability to learn electronic medical records systems
- Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to understand and apply medical and facility terminology
- Ability to use MS Office applications and electronic patient records
- Ability to serve as a patient advocate
- Knowledge of nursing and facility policies and procedures
