Job Summary
The Charge Nurse in the Emergency Department provides holistic, individualized care using the nursing process, demonstrating advanced clinical competency and nursing judgment. Responsibilities include making patient care assignments, coordinating staffing needs, overseeing staff performance, ensuring quality patient care, and mentoring colleagues. The role requires effective communication with clinical management and participation in quality improvement initiatives. Candidates should have at least two years of clinical experience, active RN licensure in California, and certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Must also maintain CPR intervention certification and navigate emergency situations effectively.
Required Qualifications
- Must have and maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California
- Must have and maintain current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS cards
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification or obtain within one (1) year of assignment
- Minimum two (2) years of unit specific clinical experience or approval of the Unit Director
- Must have or be eligible to enroll in MICN and obtain prior to being assigned as a Charge Nurse

Additional Requirements
- Must work normal/scheduled hours including Holidays, call-backs, weekends, and on-call
