Job Summary
The Charge Nurse in the Emergency Department is responsible for providing holistic, individualized patient care using the nursing process. Key responsibilities include making patient care assignments, coordinating staffing, overseeing patient admissions and discharges, mentoring staff, and ensuring compliance with policies and standards. Requires effective leadership and communication skills, and the ability to demonstrate clinical competency in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must possess a current RN license in California, along with BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications, and have a minimum of two years of clinical experience.
Required Qualifications
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in California
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification within 1 year
- National certification approved within 90 days if Charge RN is primary position
- Minimum two years of unit specific clinical experience
