Job Summary
Charge Nurse - ED at Seattle Children’s oversees the planning, organization and delivery of safe and timely patient and family care for all patients on the unit during a shift, applying the nursing process to oversee and coordinate patient care across the unit, and supporting strategic initiatives. The role requires leadership within a pediatric emergency/nursing context, with a 0.9 FTE schedule of 7pm–7:30am, and includes responsibilities related to CPI/ART initiatives, and mandatory certification timelines (PEARS/PALS and ACLS for certain units) along with required current WA RN licensure and BLS; BSN preferred and one year of nursing experience is required, with preferred pediatric experience in perioperative, PICU, or related areas.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred
- Minimum one year nursing experience
- Current Washington State RN License, or other current state license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
- Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) accepted in lieu of BLS
- Charge Nurses working in multiple areas must obtain PALS within 6 months of employment and maintain
- Charge Nurses in Emergency Department, PICU, CICU, or Airlift Northwest must obtain ACLS by 9/30/18 or within 3 months
- Diploma or transcript records for personnel trained outside the U.S. must include foreign credentialing equivalency
