Charge Nurse - Admit/Discharge Center, Nights

Job Summary

Coordinate quality nursing care for patients from birth through the lifecycle and manage operational issues during night shifts. Provide clinical care as census demands, communicate patient care and departmental issues to leaders, and serve as a resource for staff guidance. This role requires RN licensure, BCLS, and specialty certifications such as ACLS, PALS, and NRP. A Bachelor's degree is preferred, along with 1–2 years of hospital nursing experience. Applicants must complete additional unit-specific certifications within 30 to 180 days. The position is with Piedmont Augusta Hospital.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing
  • 1 year of nursing experience in a hospital setting
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support
  • ACLS Certification (Cardiac Tele, Critical Care, Surgical Services including Labor and Delivery)
  • PALS Certification (Emergency Department)
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification - prior to independent chemotherapy administration (Infusion/Oncology)
  • NRP by the end of orientation period (Women's Services: Labor and Delivery, Mother/Baby, NICU, NAT, Nursery)
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Program within 12 months of start date (Labor and Delivery)
  • PEARS Certification ( at Piedmont Athens Hospital)
  • PALS if unit provides care to pediatric patients (Surgical Services)
  • ACLS and PALS Certification (Emergency Department)
  • ACLS; PALS if unit provides care to pediatric patients (Surgical Services)
  • TNCC Certifications - required at the following hospitals: Piedmont Athens, Piedmont Cartersville, Piedmont Columbus Midtown, Piedmont Henry, Piedmont Newton, Piedmont Walton
  • ENPC Certifications - required at the following hospitals: Piedmont Athens, Piedmont Cartersville, Piedmont Columbus Midtown, Piedmont Newton
  • PALS Certification (required at Piedmont Columbus Hospital)
  • PreOp/PACU/ENDO/CSU/ARU - ACLS; PALS if unit provides care to pediatric patients
  • Labor and Delivery-ACLS Certification
  • Mother/Baby- NRP by the end of orientation period
  • NICU- NRP by the end of orientation period
  • NAT (Newborn Admission Team)- NRP by the end of orientation period
  • Nursery- NRP by the end of orientation period
  • Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • 2 years or more years of nursing experience in a hospital setting
  • Experienced Emergency Department nurses will have 30 days to obtain the PALS certification within 30 Days
  • Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date
  • Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certification within 1 year of start date
