Job Summary

Maintain the hospital's Charge Description Master (CDM) and Proration Plans as the principal authority, directing updates, resolving complex coding ambiguities, and ensuring compliance with government and payer policies. Lead the CDM Committee, oversee Craneware configuration, and conduct medical record-to-bill audits while developing corrective action plans for revenue leakage. Partner with department managers to guide charge changes, mentor staff on coding accuracy, and present dashboards tracking charge capture rates and pricing variance. Collaborate with Finance, HIM, and IT to optimize workflows, analyze regulatory changes, and support reimbursement modeling for new services.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in health information management, business, finance, or related field
  • Strong training background in hospital coding and reimbursement
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in CDM maintenance, medical records, hospital coding, or reimbursement
  • demonstrated experience leading CDM projects or initiatives with minimal oversight
  • Advanced computer knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • ability to mentor or guide less experienced staff
  • Advanced communication and presentation skills
  • ability to influence and educate stakeholders across all levels of the organization, including senior leadership

Desired Qualifications

  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
  • equivalent healthcare coding/charge master certification
  • Bachelor's degree in health information management, business, finance, or related field preferred
  • Advanced computer knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
