Job Summary
Develop and implement ministry objectives, policies, and procedures consistent with hospital philosophy while evaluating patient and family needs for spiritual guidance and counseling. Administer sacraments and religious rites, or arrange for appropriate religious leaders to perform them. Maintain availability for consultation with hospital staff and individuals regarding hospital ministry matters. Actively support Spiritual Care Volunteer programs through mentoring and continuing education, including collaborating with the Volunteer Services Assistant Director to plan and teach classes. Create and promote healing and wholeness programs, including Critical Incident Response Team activities, to support specialized ministry in every setting. Board certification within two years is required, with a Master of Divinity degree and four CPE courses preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a fully accredited theological seminary with a Master of Divinity degree or canonically acceptable equivalent which could be verified with Board Certified Chaplain Eligibility
- 4 Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) courses verified by the hospital or accredited educational institution
- Board certified within two years required
Desired Qualifications
- Board Certified Chaplain from the APC, NACC, NAJC, or CASC preferred
- Individual ordained by her/his faith group preferred
