Job Summary
Provide spiritual care and counseling for patients, families, and staff across Sharp Memorial, Sharp Mary Birch, and Sharp Mesa Vista campuses. Assess spiritual needs, formulate care plans, and document all visits in the EMR within the shift or five days for hospice. Deliver individual and group interventions, including crisis support for Code Blue and trauma codes, bioethical discussions, and rituals for newborns, end-of-life, and memorial services. Set daily priorities, manage caseloads, and facilitate treatment decisions aligned with patient values. Maintain positive relationships with physicians, community clergy, and volunteers while communicating proactively with the multidisciplinary team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Other Successful completion of at least 4 units of ACPE Clinical Pastoral Education
- Other Successful completion of at least 1 unit of CPE (Hospice requirement)
- Strongly prefer Board Certification by either APC or NACC, or at least be eligible and in active process of obtaining this certification required
- Ability to work collaboratively within a collegial department, and multidisciplinary setting
- Excellent clinical skills
- Proven ability to effectively minister with persons of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds
- Excellent teaching skills
- Ability to initiate new programs, as well organize and oversee existing ones
- Proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office applications, and electronic medical record
- Basic understanding of medical terms and diagnosis
Desired Qualifications
- Master's Degree of Divinity or related field (equivalent needed for Board Certification by endorsing faith group)
- 1 Year Experience as a healthcare chaplain
- Experience in acute care hospital
- Board Certification by either APC or NACC
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
