Job Summary
Provide a calming, supportive presence to patients, families, and staff during end-of-life situations, personal crises, and daily care. Assess spiritual needs, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on care plans, and document issues in the EMR to assist the Palliative Care Team. Attend mandatory meetings, train relief Chaplains and volunteers, and share on-call and holiday coverage. Report safety incidents through the Midas/RDE tool, comply with state and federal regulations, and maintain current certifications. Requires a high school diploma or GED, preferred theological degree, minimum three years of spiritual care experience, and formalized pastoral training.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 3 years' experience providing spiritual care to people of many different faiths and secular values
- Formalized spiritual or pastoral care training provided by faith community or ecclesiastical body
- Spiritual care education, experience and or training directly related to issues of death and dying
- Understanding of computers
- Competence in using computers and basic software programs
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate theological, divinity, or pastoral care degree seminary or university accredited by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS)
- Ministerial Standing, oversight or equivalent with recognized ecclesiastical body (National Conference on Ministry to Armed Forces or by the Yearbook of American & Canadian Churches)
- Experience providing spiritual care in hospital setting to people from a variety of faith, cultural and socially diverse backgrounds
- Conversational in Spanish or Navajo, Sign Language or second language
