Job Summary
Provide spiritual assessment, counseling, and grief debriefing to patients, families, and staff while triaging requests for clergy and managing emergency referrals. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team on advance care planning and communicate patient wishes accurately. Enter electronic documentation of all interactions into the health record and record daily work into the Pastoral Care Activity Reporting System. Perform on-call duties after hours, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Maintain minimum four units of CPE and complete Board-Certified Chaplain certification within three years of hire.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Theology (Divinity)
- Minimum four (4) unit of CPE
- A current/active ordination, endorsement, or validation for ministry from a faith group
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a setting such as, but not limited to, hospital, hospice, long-term care facility; religious institution, center of worship
- Must complete Board-Certified Chaplain (BCC) within 3 years of hire, or upon transfer into FT/PT status, from one of the following professional organizations: Association of Professional Chaplains (APC); National Association for Catholic Chaplains (NACC); or National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC)
- Evidence of understanding of diverse populations
