Job Summary
Chaplain I provides spiritual care to patients, families, and staff within a multidisciplinary health-care setting. Under supervision, the chaplain ministers to needs arising from illness, crisis, loss, and death, offering pastoral presence through active listening and compassionate support. Responsibilities include recognizing sacramental needs of Catholic populations, meeting religious and ritual needs of diverse faith groups, and ministering to a diverse population in a non-proselytizing manner. The role includes end-of-life and crisis support (e.g., Code Blue, trauma) with 24/7 call and holiday/weekend expectations. The position emphasizes collaboration with the mission and spiritual care teams and requires engagement in Interfaith dialogue, pastoral counseling, and spiritual care assessments within the hospital ministry context.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (required)
- Master’s degree in a related field (preferred)
- One (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) completed (preferred)
- Experience as a Chaplain in a healthcare setting (preferred)
- Documentation of faith community endorsement by official representative(s) reflecting good standing in accordance with one’s faith/spiritual tradition (Required)
- Complete 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) within first year of employment (required)
