Chaplain - Hospice

Job Summary

Conduct spiritual assessments, counseling, and rituals for palliative and hospice patients and families in Sumter, Assisted Living facilities, and homes. Facilitate meaning-making conversations, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on care plans, and support staff and volunteers. Provide bereavement assistance, including memorial service planning and group support, while representing the organization at community events and conducting workshops on end-of-life care. Requires full-time 8-hour weekday hours, a Master of Divinity degree, ordination, and the ability to travel and drive.

Required Qualifications

  • Master of Divinity (MDiv) or equivalent theological degree from an accredited institution
  • Ordination or endorsement from a recognized religious organization
  • Experience in providing spiritual care in a healthcare setting, preferably hospice or palliative care
  • Knowledge of diverse religious and spiritual traditions
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills
  • Ability to provide compassionate care to individuals facing end-of-life challenges
  • Sensitivity to cultural and religious differences
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and travel between offices, facilities, etc
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organizational requirements and is in good working order

Desired Qualifications

  • Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) certification preferred
