Job Summary
Serve as a spiritual resource for patients and families on the end-of-life journey, helping them feel safe and comfortable while validating their beliefs without judgment. Make 4-6 daily visits to private residences, assisted living facilities, or skilled nursing homes to provide comfort, dignity, and peace of mind. Plan and participate in funeral services, conduct special ceremonies for veterans, and educate the community on hospice benefits. Occasionally officiate weddings, oversee butterfly releases, and perform Blessings of the Hands. Collaborate weekly with an interdisciplinary team including social workers, physicians, and nurses to support holistic care. Deliver compassionate, personalized care honoring the wishes of each patient entrusted to VITAS.
Required Qualifications
- A Master of Divinity from a currently accredited institution
- 400 hours (1 unit) of accredited clinical pastoral education or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience, at least two of them in a clinical setting
- Current good standing with your body of faith
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Reliable transportation
