Job Summary
Provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and caregivers in alignment with their beliefs and values. Conduct visits, prayers, blessings, and rituals as appropriate, while assessing spiritual needs to develop individualized care plans. Serve as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team by participating in patient care conferences and collaborating with nurses, social workers, and medical staff. Assist families during grief, loss, or transition, and build relationships with local faith leaders to support unique spiritual needs. Maintain timely documentation of assessments and interventions. This role offers non-denominational, inclusive care that respects all faiths and cultural backgrounds within a national hospice network.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in theology, religion, human services, counseling, psychology, or sociology (or as required by state-specific regulations)
- A minimum of one unit of ACPE-accredited Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)
- Note: Degrees from accredited institutions are preferred. If a degree is from a non-accredited college or university, AVPO approval is required prior to hire.
