Job Summary
Carry out pastoral care department goals, facilitate sacraments, and organize worship services in creative ways. Offer religious guidance to residents, staff, and families, while conducting regular visits with priority given to those in greatest need. Provide palliative care, plan memorial services, and serve families of deceased residents as required. Participate in committees and resident conferences to enhance care continuity, establish relationships with the health team and volunteers, and keep records. Deliver in-service programs to staff and maintain communication with area clergy regarding admissions, discharges, and educational programming. Work a 6-day, two-week schedule across Tillsonburg and Tavistock locations.
Required Qualifications
- 1 year progressive related experience
- A bachelor's degree
- Certification by an appropriate clinical pastoral agency
- One year of pastoral experience
- Ability to articulate the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Facilities
- Ability to lead and coordinate prayer
- Ability to facilitate group process
Desired Qualifications
- The chaplain has completed a curriculum of theological classes and displays skills and competencies in pastoral care
