Job Summary
Chaplain needed to provide spiritual and emotional support to hospice patients and families, including bereavement follow-up and coordination with the hospice team. Responsibilities include direct spiritual support to patients/families, collaborating with staff and clergy to address spiritual concerns of those facing terminal illness, participation in IDT conferences, arranging and conducting funeral or memorial services, developing a resource group of clergy, ensuring on-call availability for spiritual services, and delivering educational programs for community clergy and lay representatives. Requires working independently with the ability to assess, judge, and respond to crises outside a hospital setting; must be able to utilize iPad, laptop, and EMR systems. Education: graduate-level theological training with a certificate or degree in pastoral ministry; Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience: 1 year (minimum) to 2 years as chaplain/spiritual counselor preferred. Work is part-time at multiple locations in Athens, Ohio, with 20-29 hours per week. Vehicle and driving license required for travel between locations.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited seminary or school of theology or appropriate certification in hospital or pastoral ministry
- Certificate or degree in pastoral ministry
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a chaplain/spiritual counselor (preferred)
- Active patient contact within past three years (preferred)
