Job Summary
Manage end-to-end publishing and optimisation across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, including post optimisation, scheduling, and traffic management via UTM tracking and Link in Bio pages. Own platform best practices to ensure content is optimised for each channel rather than simply repurposed, while coordinating with editorial, video, and partnerships teams to maintain editorial standards and tone. Handle crisis escalation for reputational, legal, or safeguarding issues and moderate comments to uphold community guidelines. Collaborate with the audience team on performance reporting, trend spotting, and algorithm changes, and work with leadership to launch new social channels. Report to the Deputy editor/SVP strategy in a hybrid role within the Guardian US editorial department.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent writing skills and news judgment
- Proven track record of analyzing audience trends and clearly communicating insights to journalists
- Strong understanding of search engine optimization best practices, and experience with relevant tools, particularly for A/B testing content in competitive coverage areas
- A firm grasp of the Guardian's brand and editorial identity and a strong understanding of the US news media video landscape to find opportunities to experiment and grow
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling headlines and engaging social media copy that captures attention and drives traffic
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in both remote and in-person team environments, fostering collaboration across departments
