Job Summary
CHAMP Operator patrols interstate roadways in assigned Georgia districts, assists stranded motorists, reports road deficiencies, and supports dispatch with clear communication. Roles require strong customer service, ability to drive an AECOM-provided vehicle, and adherence to laws and safety protocols. Candidates should have solid automotive repair knowledge, be able to work on call 24/7, and hold CPR/First Aid certifications. On-site requirements include physical stamina for outdoor work, lifting up to 95 pounds, and operating in variable conditions. Preferred experience includes five years of driving, roadway-traffic environment exposure, and knowledge of emergency services and MUTCD guidelines. Relocation and sponsorship are not available; benefits may include tuition reimbursement and take-home vehicle allowances. All hires undergo Day 1 onboarding and company-specific safety measures.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or 1 year of relevant work experience in lieu of education
- Be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Possess a valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record
- Must pass State and Federal criminal history/security and motor vehicle background checks
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and participate in mandatory drug screening
- Possess or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications
- Working knowledge of basic automotive repair
- Willingness to be on call 24/7
- Ability to lift up to 95 pounds
- Ability to perform essential physical functions as described
Desired Qualifications
- Five (5) years of driving experience
- Experience in roadway traffic environment

- Basic knowledge of operations of emergency services
- Basic knowledge of highway maintenance activities
- Basic knowledge in minor auto repairs and automotive preventive maintenance
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Demonstrated ability to reason and make good sound decisions
- Ability to guide or direct others at incident scenes
- Ability to gather and disseminate information effectively
- Working knowledge of the MUTCD
- Demonstrated professional maturity
