Job Summary
Music Director for Willy Wonka Jr. is responsible for the creative interpretation of the script and musical score within budgetary and production constraints. Teach and evaluate music direction for the production, coach cast on singing to pre-recorded music, and manage musical timing. Collaborate with Production Manager, Artistic Director, and Stage Manager to create a positive learning environment, attend auditions, rehearsals, tech rehearsals, and all performances, and assist with coordinating tech rehearsals and performances. Must have experience teaching music to children, strong communication skills, and the ability to maintain discretion on confidential matters. Requires a high school diploma; CPR/First Aid certification is a plus and training can be provided. This is an at-will position with a schedule that includes auditions, rehearsals, and performances from August through November 2026.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience teaching basic music skills and singing to others, particularly children
- Previous experience interacting with children
- Strong and effective communication and customer service skills
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus but will be provided if needed (preferred)
- Proficient in MS Outlook or other email system for communication purposes
