Chair, Department of Surgery

Chair leads the Department of Surgery across multiple hospitals and sites, directing clinical care, research, education, and strategic governance. Responsibilities include developing departmental strategic plans, overseeing clinical faculty and provider assignments, coordinating resident and fellow recruitment, expanding translational and clinical research, ensuring accreditation compliance (LCME/ACGME), managing budgets and resources, fostering inclusive practices, and advancing educational quality and program development within Sidney Kimmel Medical College and Jefferson Health. The role requires a clinically active physician leader with a track record of securing external funding, administrative leadership experience at the level of chair/vice chair/division chief, and a commitment to equitable, high-quality care across a large academic health system.
