Job Summary

Lead the Department of Ophthalmology by providing strategic vision for clinical excellence, quality, and patient experience while recruiting, retaining, and mentoring faculty. Advance clinical, translational, and outcomes research initiatives to promote scholarly activity and national visibility. Strengthen multidisciplinary partnerships across Mayo Clinic Florida and support educational programs and learner experiences. Ensure responsible stewardship of departmental resources and foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and innovation. Serve as a key institutional leader within the enterprise. This premier opportunity advances the three Mayo Clinic shields of clinical practice, education, and research at a tertiary referral center.

Required Qualifications

  • Accomplished ophthalmologist
  • Commitment to patient needs first

  • Leadership in clinical practice, education, and research
  • Ability to define the future direction of ophthalmology in Florida and across the Mayo Clinic enterprise
  • Expertise in cataract and refractive surgery
  • Expertise in cornea and external disease
  • Expertise in glaucoma
  • Expertise in retina and vitreoretinal surgery
  • Expertise in neuro-ophthalmology
  • Expertise in ocular oncology
  • Expertise in oculoplastic and orbital surgery
  • Expertise in comprehensive ophthalmology
  • Expertise in complex anterior segment surgery
  • Experience working with specialists in neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, endocrinology, rheumatology, and transplant medicine
  • Experience supporting nationally recognized fellowship programs
  • Ability to train future leaders in ophthalmology
  • Strategic leadership and vision for the Department of Ophthalmology
  • Ability to advance clinical excellence, quality, patient experience, access, and growth
  • Ability to recruit, retain, mentor, and develop exceptional faculty and staff
  • Ability to foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, collaboration, and innovation
