Job Summary
CFO sought to lead financial operations for a civil construction company in Western NY. Responsible for hands-on management of accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and compliance across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy of general ledger, AP/AR, and project-cost reporting (including WIP and job-cost analysis). Oversee budgeting and forecasting models, cash flow management, banking relationships, bonding, and capital structure; manage multi-state tax filings, audits, and regulatory reporting. Provide strategic financial leadership to support project performance, risk assessment, and expansion initiatives; present financial insights to the President/Owner and collaborate with operations leadership. Lead and mentor the accounting team, develop internal controls and GAAP-compliant policies, and drive continuous improvement across financial processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; MBA strongly preferred.
- At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management.
- Proven track record of successful financial management, including experience developing and implementing financial strategies, managing budgets, and overseeing financial reporting and compliance.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate financial information.
- Passion for the work of the organization.
- Passionate interest in mentoring others and working as a team.
