CFAA Fire Alarm Technician (Programming)

Job Summary
Perform assisted installation, commissioning, and verification activities on Fire Alarm related equipment, including connection of devices and circuits. Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, submittals, and specifications. Supervise and coordinate work with electricians on Fire Alarm systems. Complete verification reports for submittal to customers and carry out system acceptance tests with AHJs and other interested parties. Complete As Built drawings at job completion. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product lines. Identify general deficiencies and code issues in the field during verification. Travel throughout the District business area when required. Conduct small programming modifications to an existing system with supervision. Program small systems (upon training). Assist in developing employee training programs for employees and customers.
Required Qualifications
- College diploma in Fire Protection, Electrical/Electronic, or equivalent experience
- Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) certification
- Demonstrated ability to program basic operations on micro-processor-based systems
- Proficient in computers (Microsoft Excel, Word, Windows)
- Basic troubleshooting skills with electronic test equipment
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong communication skills and customer service focus
