Job Summary
Certified Welding Inspector responsible for ensuring welded products meet AWS/ASME codes and customer specs by performing visual inspections, reviewing blueprints and weld symbols, verifying Welder Qualifications (WQTRs) and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), documenting results, identifying non-conforming welds, coordinating with third-party inspectors or customers during audits, maintaining inspection records, and promoting safety and quality on the shop floor; requires AWS CWI certification, knowledge of welding processes, ability to interpret drawings and weld symbols, familiarity with welding codes and quality standards, strong attention to detail, and effective communication in a manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
- Strong knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-Core, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and weld symbols
- Familiarity with welding codes and quality standards
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work in a manufacturing/shop environment
