Job Summary
Certified Welding Inspector (AWS CWI) sought for multi-year infrastructure projects in the El Paso region. Core responsibilities include inspecting construction processes and testing construction materials for compliance with specifications, preparing timely reports, reading and interpreting specifications and drawings, mentoring junior inspectors, ensuring safety protocols, maintaining and calibrating testing equipment, and potentially assisting in developing testing scopes. Candidates should have strong inspection and reporting skills, experience across field testing and materials testing, and the ability to obtain or maintain advanced certification levels to support project requirements. A minimum of 5 years of verifiable relevant experience is required (8+ years preferred). Driver's license, OSHA 10 (preferred or can be obtained with Atlas training), and AWS CWI certification are required or preferred as noted. The role emphasizes collaboration within a team and the application of mathematical and engineering principles to field adjustments, with opportunities to grow professionally within Atlas Technical Consultants.
Required Qualifications
- AWS CWI certification REQUIRED
- ASNT NDT Level II - MT & UT Preferred
- Driver's License Required
- OSHA 10 - Preferred (or ability to obtain with two weeks of hire - Atlas provided training)
- Familiarity with Construction practices and Materials testing - Preferred
- Have 5+ years verifiable relevant experience (8+ preferred)
- ICC certifications in structural categories and others - Preferred
- ACI Concrete Field Grade 1 Testing Technician - Preferred
- NICET certification - Preferred
- PTI Post-Tension Inspector - Preferred
- Senior Certified Welding Inspector (SCWI) - Preferred
- American Welding Society certifications - Preferred
- Other national, regional, state, and local certifications - Preferred
