Job Summary
Ensure compliance with safety and environment guidelines while testing and inspecting structural steel during erection on building and pipeline sites. Perform visual inspections on welded products to identify defects such as cracks, porosity, and undercut, then record test results and issue non-conformances until closeout. Conduct analysis and integration to assure product quality, review welded components for acceptance or rejection, and document all quality assurance activities. Measure dimensions using instruments like calipers and micrometers to verify conformance with specifications. Communicate significant issues to management and provide recommended process improvements. Operate testing equipment for soil or concrete assessments and calculate mathematical test results. Adhere to safety practices to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification with D1.1 experience
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
- Ability to read blueprints and understand, and interpret tolerances
- Ability to receive, understand, and execute written and verbal directions
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication
- Ability to work well independently and with others
- Must be able to periodically work off shifts and overtime
- Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record
