Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technician

Job Summary
Perform bolted and welded structural reviews on building constructions sites and fabrication shop inspections; conduct NDT of welds, structural members, and components using UT, MT, and PT methods; perform field witnessing, sample collection, and lab testing (including welder performance and procedure qualifications, high-strength bolts, and load testing); travel to sites to support other SME groups and conduct site visits to highway structures, with a focus on D1.1/D1.5 code-related assessments. Requires AWS CWI certification, ASNT Level II/NDt credentials, strong documentation and communication skills, physical ability to handle PPE and travel, and proficiency with common computer programs. Travel to various sites within the state and occasional out-of-state work are expected; safety-conscious and ethical conduct are emphasized as part of SME’s core values.
Required Qualifications
- A current American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- Quality Control (QC) or Quality Assurance (QA) related NDT experience with one or more current ASNT SNT-TC-1A, Level II certification for UT, MT, and/or PT; or relevant NDT training log documentation that would qualify for pursuing examination and certification in these methods.
- High School Diploma or GED.
