Job Summary
Use electricity and torches to produce heat and solder together components made from steel, titanium, copper, and other metals. Consult blueprints and sketches to execute jobs to specification, while assessing equipment, structures, and materials for appropriate welding positions and methods. Monitor equipment for usage and temperature, operate specialized machinery for industrial welding, and maintain healthy ventilation levels. Follow safety protocols including wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes, and adhere to OSHA regulations and universal standards. Work on heavy civil and highway construction sites in loud environments with moving mechanical parts, lifting heavy objects and standing for long periods under adverse field conditions. This full-time field role occasionally requires long hours and weekend work.
Required Qualifications
- Must adhere to OSHA safety protocol
- Must work in a drug-free environment
- Must be reliable
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver's license prior to employment
- Must be able to lift heavy objects
- Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to perform physical labor under adverse field conditions
- Must have good manual dexterity
- Must have multilimbed coordination
- Must have excellent stamina
- Must be able to work in loud noise levels
- Must be able to work near moving mechanical parts
- Must be able to work in outside conditions including inclement weather, heat, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
- Must be able to work occasional long hours
- Must be able to work weekends
